Le Labo offers francophone media, visual and performance artists and curators a place to develop their art in the heart of Toronto. Lasting from one month to several weeks, these residencies are as much about reflection as they are about creation. Le Labo is dedicated to artists’ creative thinking, emphasizing exploration rather than achievement.

Our approach is designed to help established, mid-career and emerging artists rethink their artistic process in a world driven by speed. The invitation is to slow down and embrace the possibility of frustration and failure to co-construct projects aligned with your creativity and our identity.

Together we curate this residency period.

Three program objectives:

  • To promote the work and career development of artists by supporting them and providing them with an environment and means appropriate to the realization of their art.
  • To facilitate the exchange of artistic points of view and contribute to the creation of lasting connections between artists.
  • To bring the community together by developing an innovative network for artistic creation, production and distribution.

Le Labo helps you explore new avenues of digital creation or develop your media skills with free technical equipment rental for the duration of your residency. To find out more: equipment.
