Art allows us to open up to the many different perspectives of this world and to engage in a dialogue between imagination and reality. While imagination is the fruit of our thoughts, thoughts are shaped by our minds and our language. Creating a work of art in one’s mother tongue, second language or language of the heart may be a choice or an evidence, but never a innoncent act. The reality, however, is complex. French as a minority language is under constant threat. Where politics and economics try to gain ground, art takes us elsewhere, further away, and encourages us to express our imaginations. The creative impulse, free of limits, offers the greatest of freedoms, that of expression. Bulles d’Artistes is the result of these observations and aims to celebrate those who choose to create freely every day in French, in Canada.
BULLES highlights the creative force of our city’s talent, and features eleven local francophone artists: Katia Café-Fébrissy, Julie Lassonde, Martine Côté, Ama Ouattara, Saïda Ouchaou-Ozarowski, Lise Beaudry, Carolina Reis, Jacques Descoteaux, Samuel Choisy, Madi Piller and Jean-Christophe Foolchand.
Beyond the screen, we invite the public to discover the talent of these artists, whose diverse practices range from painting and filmmaking to kinetic art, embroidery and photography.
