Le Labo is very pleased to welcome Sevia and Michelle from the Québécois cultural organization A l’Est de vos Empires for a unique workshop on the creation of cultural podcasts, on the weekend of March 25 and 26, 2023.

The two-day workshop will be divided into two parts:

  • a theory portion to share tips and tricks for a successful interview, familiarize you with the different formats for podcasts, guide you in choosing guest speakers and teach you how to create a recording plan.
  • a hands-on section to teach you the ropes of audio setup, recording and editing.

About À l’Est de Vos Empires

Founded in 2015 and first broadcast on CHYZ 94.3, the cultural program À l’Est De Vos Empires transitioned in January 2020 to become an independent broadcast organization. With the support of the Première Ovation program, À l’Est De Vos empires quickly became a multi-platform digital cultural magazine. In 2021, À l’Est integrates the Aerospace team into its ranks and begins producing the visual arts radio show on CKRL. Its content is now offered through its four components: L’Aérospatial, a weekly radio show broadcast on CKRL; Le balado, a monthly thematic show; the Vitrine virtuelle, a digital gallery; and the Revue en ligne, a platform to broadcast critical and creative texts.

About the instructors

Michelle Drapeau is an art historian, author, curator and cultural worker originally from Moncton (NB) and based in Quebec City. Coordinator of Programming and Development at EXMURO arts publics since 2020, she has experience as assistant curator of contemporary art at the MNBAQ; coordinator of the Symposium international d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul; and coordinator of communications and development at OEil de Poisson, among others. As a curator, she has notably signed two editions of Manif d’art – La biennale de Québec as well as the permanent public art trail Images Rémanentes in Moncton permanent public art trail Images Rémanentes in Moncton. In recent years, Michelle Drapeau has been actively involved with the Foire en art actuel de Québec and À l’est de vos empires.

Sevia Pellissier is an art historian, author, curator and cultural worker. She is interested in conceptual, performative and digital practices while maintaining a passion for creating discourses surrounding the visual arts. In 2015, she founded the cultural magazine À l’est de vos empires and became its general and artistic director in 2020. A cultural hyperactive, she regularly collaborates with various organizations and publications such as Vie des arts magazine and La Foire en art actuel de Québec. She curated the projects EXOMARS (2019), Menus et vilains (Encans de la quarantaine, 2021), Salle d’attentes (Manif d’art 10, 2022) and Æntre deux (Finissant.e.s en arts visuels de l’Université Laval, 2022) in addition to having participated in the realization of several exhibitions as part of her functions within Quebec City artist-run centers.
