Alexandre Loukos

- Director -

After studying cinema in Paris, Alex Loukos made his first documentary, The Man Next Door, about filmmaker Theo Angelopoulos’ unique form of cinematic storytelling (Director of Eternity and a day, which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes in 1998). The Man Next Door, an « almodovarian » comedy, made its way into many film festivals and was broadcast on television.

In 2006, he became one of the Founding members of Le Labo des arts médiatiques. Very committed to his practice, he explored new tools and participates with other artists in the creation of installations and the making of experimental videos. Simultaneously, Loukos is also an accomplished editor and he has worked on several television programs and documentaries broadcast on Groupe Media TFO, Radio-Canada, TV5, ARTV and the NFB. In 2015, his feature documentary Sur les traces de Padejo premiered at « La semaine de la francophonie » (francophone week in Toronto) in partnership with CinéFranco. With his short film « Perils » whose release is scheduled for autumn 2019, Alexandre Loukos renews his passion for cinema and is now developing feature film projects.
