LE LABO and New Adventures in Sound Art present an evening with Monique Jean and François Girouard in a LABO-CHAT October 25th at 7pm. Internationally renown Montreal artists Monique Jean and François Girouard will discuss the work which will be presented on October 26th as part of the SOUNDplay festival.
LE LABO is currently the only francophone production centre in Ontario for artists working in new media and technology. This integrated arts lab specializes in production, training and outreach and represents video, film, visual, performance and sound artists. LE LABO’s mandate is to encourage experimentation and collaboration between multidisciplinary artists.
New Adventures in Sound Art is a non-profit organization that produces performances and installations spanning the entire spectrum of electroacoustic and experimental sound art. Included in its Toronto productions are: Deep Wireless, Sound Travels and SOUNDplay. (www.naisa.ca/soundplay)
The 6th annual SOUNDplay festival is a meeting point for experimentation in new media and sound art and encouraging new fusions of image, sound and text. This year’s festival includes screenings, installations & performances, parts of which are co-produced by LE LABO, Pleasure Dome, the Goethe Institute, Gladstone Hotel, CONTACT contemporary music ensemble, Bradyworks and the Music Gallery. SOUNDplay 2007’s program also features Text of Light (Lee Ranaldo, Alan Licht & Ulrich Krieger), David Lang’s Elevated, Michelle Irving and Michael Snow trio.
