FROM FALLOW TO “MICRO”: A FIRST CHAPTER IN TRANSITION
No, the fallow »jachère » period isn’t quite over yet.
For the past three years, as a team, we’ve been carefully observing the small shoots left behind by the artists who have passed through our Studio 277: projects in the making, tentative steps, new practices, and above all, the emergence of meaningful connections.
Artists, members, partners, funders, together we’ve learned to wait, to let things ripen.
And in that long, patient time, I noticed a discreet seed appear, small and almost invisible at first: the micro.
This prefix, “micro,” speaks to the practicality and adaptability of the approach: a way of building a human-scale network above all else.
It is not a default position, but a choice.
A choice to resist the obsession with the big, the visible, the measurable.
A choice to value the intimate over the spectacular.
Let’s see where it leads…
