Le Labo is located in Tkaronto, “where the trees are rooted in the water,” on territories we are privileged to inhabit and animate. This site is part of Treaty 13 (Toronto Purchase) and on the lands of the Wendat, Anishinabek, Haudenosaunee, and Mississaugas of the Credit River, as well as Métis peoples. We anchor our practices in the teaching of the “dish with one spoon”: to proceed with care, to work on a human scale, to look after what is already present, and to embed our actions in a logic of sharing, sobriety, and collective responsibility. At Le Labo, we aim to bring forth narratives that are too often erased or silenced. In doing so, we participate, at our level, in processes of truth, reparation, and reconciliation. This approach is part of our commitment to slowing down, experimenting, and transmitting differently.
