With this first collection of portraits, we hope to offer a platform to francophone artists who rarely speak out in traditional media, and to make them known to the general public.

For this 22-23 season, Le Labo is introducing a new space for Francophone artists in Toronto to explore. We are making our studio available for a week and organizing visits with curators and peers. In short, a space for feedback to feed the artist’s creation.
Le Labo presents « Emergence » by Nadine Valcin for Nuit Blanche Toronto. A silent two-channel video installation, reaffirming the beauty and diversity of Black faces by literally thumbing its nose at the expression « blackface ».

Ama and Pascaline, two members of Le Labo representing the new generation, made the trip to the capital to participate in the year’s national media arts gathering, Through the Storm.
In July, Le Labo, with the help of the videograph Sophie Dumesny, teamed up with l’Alliance Française to give summer campers the opportunity to participate in a mini-production of a short movie.
