“What do we lose when we describe ourselves?”
A meeting with the words of Ophélie Pichon and artist Lan “Florence” Yee during a private visit to the exhibition 6 Degrees: Territories of Narration.
.
Letters from artists to artists, then words that resonate. Creating epistolary relationships, opening avenues for reflection on identity, somewhere in the resonance of a new exquisite corpse… Curator Dyana Ouvrard (Toronto, CA) invites artists from Le Labo artist center to initiate a feminist and transdisciplinary epistolary project to provide an opportunity for self-redefinition.
.
6 Degrees, Territories of Narration is a long-term project inviting all of us to rethink and question gender-related injunctions.
The letters are available in audio here.
This podcast is inspired by the invaluable encounters surrounding this project curated by Dyana Ouvrard, where each exchange was rich in interactions, listening, and empathy.
With artists Shahla Bahrami, Éveline Boudreau, Martine Côté, Laura Demers, Sophie Dumesny, Geronimo Inutiq, Julie Lassonde, Chantal Leblanc, Habibata Ouarme, Saïda Ouchaou, Noémie Roy, ImageFatale aka Karen Vanderborght and Lan Yee; and the wonderful team Mathilde Rousseau and Sahaana Jeevendra.
And a huge thank you to Geronimo Inutiq for his permission to use his throat singing recordings, sound captures of Toronto wanderings, and the weather in Inuktitut, and also to Ophélie Pichon for her creativity, risk-taking, and various sound captures throughout her North American journey.
