Photoshop is an essential tool when it comes to digital image manipulation software. This workshop aims to introduce Photoshop’s simple interface and its commonly used tools as a way to inspire workshop participants. After an introduction to the software\u2019s key features, the participants will learn about some of the more advanced functions such as masks, the creation of GIF images, and 3D effects. They will also learn shortcuts to encourage a quick working method right from the start. Participants will receive a folder with links to relevant websites, a list of shortcuts, and notes on the steps for each exercise so that they may continue their learning.<\/p>\n

About the instructor:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Genevi\u00e8ve Thauvette<\/a> is a practicing Franco-Ontarian artist currently residing in Toronto. Her work has been shown both internationally and nationally, notably at the 17th<\/sup>\u00a0Japan Media Arts Festival, the Perth International Arts Festival (Australia), the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, and the VI\u00e8mes Jeux de la Francophonie in Beirut where she won the gold medal for Team Canada. Her series\u00a0Les quintupl\u00e9es Dionne<\/em>\u00a0have been acquired\u00a0by the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the City of Ottawa Fine Art Collection. She won the 2013 FlashForward emerging artists award and is the recipient of several grants, including the 2011 Emerging Artist Production Grant from the Ontario Arts Council. Thauvette presented\u00a0Cake is Freedom,\u00a0<\/em>a performative installation at Ottawa\u2019s inaugural Nuit Blanche for which she was the subject of a Radio-Canada documentary (Rendez-vous Artv). Thauvette has taught many photo workshops and been a part of numerous juries. In 2012, she toured Canada, Haiti and St-Lucia to select the final participating artists during for the VII\u00e8mes Jeux de la Francophonie. She was further chosen by L\u2019Organization internationale de la francophonie to judge the photography competition during the games in Nice. Thauvette is represented by St-Laurent + Hill Gallery in Ottawa and Eye Buy Art Gallery in Toronto.<\/p>\n

FARES \u2013 ACCESSIBILITY POLICY<\/strong>
\nEach workshop has its own fee based on the costs of the workshop.
\nLe Labo acknowledges the financial issues of independent artists and commits
\nto offer one to two spots at the price of $10 for a half day and $15 for a full day workshop.
\nPlease contact us for more information.
\nMembers who would like to benefit from these fares will commit to 2h of volunteer work for every half day workshop.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

METHOD OF PAYMENT<\/strong>
\nRegistration is confirmed upon payment of the workshop and must be done before the deadline of each workshop.
\nAccepted method of payment are: Cheque, cash and Paypal ($2.50 additional fees). <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

No refund will be made for cancellations by the participant after the registration deadline.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

CANCELLATION POLICY<\/strong>
