What motivates me to create is the desire to show another perspective to the use of fiber and textiles in a consumer society. I use design, craft and tailoring techniques as tools for artistic expression because they relate to the same manufactured products and visuals that surrounds us.<\/p>\n<p>My most recent work, Form Follows Body \/ La forme suit le corps, is an experimental knitting project that questions dress codes and fashion by exploring the relationship between the shape of clothes and the body.<\/p>\n<p>My work was presented in several shows, Jeunes Cr\u00e9ateurs in Montreal, Fashion Museum (MoMu) in Antwerp, Dutch Design Week, Lisbon Design Biennale, Museum fur Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt, Germany, Saint Etienne Design Biennale, France and Fashion Art Toronto (2015-2016). Since 2012, I have been working for Le Labo, Toronto\u2019s Francophone Media Arts Centre, developing media arts educational and training programmes as well as contributing to the fostering and promotion of francophone artistic creation in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carolinareis.weebly.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">carolinareis.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am an artist, designer and researcher weaving, knitting and knotting threads between the ethereal and material culture.
