Selected candidates will develop a media arts project that will explore the possibilities of immersive image capture and presentation\u00a0that seek to push the boundaries of digital creation. In between the real and the virtual realms, immersive narratives are currently exploding artistic landscapes. Le Labo encourages bold proposals that break away from traditional definitions of artistic practices. Francophone and Francophile artists at all levels of their career development\u00a0are invited to apply.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><u> Le Labo&rsquo;s artist residency program:<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>As a way to promote and encourage creations by Canadian Francophone and Francophile media artists, Le Labo has developed this residency program to encourage artists to\u00a0make projects where they can utilise our equipment\u00a0and digital creation\u00a0facilities<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0for a period of two to four weeks<\/span>. During this time, artists\u00a0will work independently to\u00a0develop their project.\u00a0Artists are not required to master the digital technologies they will use and they will receive technical support to help develop their projects.<br \/>\n<u><\/u><\/p>\n<h4><strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Residency requirements:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Free access to the Labo&rsquo;s space and equipment for the entire duration of their residency (2-4 weeks).\u00a0<em>For a full list of available equipment, please consult our website:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lelabo.ca\/en\/equipment\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/lelabo.ca\/en\/equipment\/<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li>A free Professional Membership with Le Labo for a year, valued at 95$ (<em><a href=\"https:\/\/lelabo.ca\/en\/members\/become-a-member\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/lelabo.ca\/en\/members\/become-a-member\/<\/a>)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>An artist fee in accordance with the current CARFAC Fee Schedule guidelines for exhibiting a work, for all public presentations and\/or workshops offered during the course of their residency.<\/li>\n<li>Housing and any additional costs related to their\u00a0creation will not be covered by Le Labo.\u00a0<em>Le Labo strongly encourages selected candidates to apply for additional funding and will provide letters of support if needed.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><strong> Participation<\/strong>\u00a0Criteria:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><em>To submit a project for consideration, the artists must meet the following critieria:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be a Canadian Francophone or Francophile citizen or resident<\/li>\n<li>be a practicing artist whose work combines some or all of the following disciplines: photography, video, sound, performance, installation, digital arts, visual arts, new media<\/li>\n<li>the submission must be written in French<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Le Labo\u00a0encourages proposals from Francophone \/ Francophile artists and art collectives from all communities and diverse identities to apply.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><br \/>\nEvaluation Criteria:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><em>Artists will be evaluated based on the following criteria:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Artistic Merit<\/li>\n<li>Viability and Impact of their proposal<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Please note that French is the primary working language at Le Labo and that artists in residence will be expected to communicate fluently in this language.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Application Requirements:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/9jd8s3w2k5kzf8c\/AppelResidences2018-2019_FINAL.pdf?dl=0\" target=\"_blank\">A completed Registration Form<\/a><\/li>\n<li>At this time we can only accept submissions written in FRENCH.<\/li>\n<li>A CV, including contact information\u00a0(max 3 pages)<\/li>\n<li>Artist Statement\u00a0<u>(max. 300 mots)<\/u><\/li>\n<li>Project Proposal\u00a0&#8211; text describing your intention for the project\/exhibition\/installation that will be developed during the residency, descriptive text\u00a0<u><u>(max. 500 mots)<br \/>\n<\/u><\/u><em>Please explain how the residency and the ressources provided by Le Labo will be important to helping to develop this project and your artistic practice.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>An\u00a0equipment list\u00a0or itemization of special technical needs (one page, if applicable)<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Support Material:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting images\/documents*: maximum of 20 digital images and\/or 10 minutes of video and\/or 10 minutes of audio.<\/li>\n<li>An\u00a0image list with description of support materials\u00a0: Artwork titles, location (space, city, country), year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;\">*IMPORTANT: <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;\"><em>All support material must be submitted electronically via an online document transfer system (ex: WeTransfer, WeSendit, Dropbox).
