The voice over technique &#8211; a key tool of subjectivity in documentary film, will be of particular focus during this workshop.<\/p>\n<p>JULIA VARGA :<br \/>\nJulia Varga was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania in 1972 and is of Hungarian-Transylvanian origin. In 2003, she received a degree at l&rsquo;\u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure d&rsquo;Art de Cergy-Pontoise. Originally with a focus on plastic arts, her work is now presented through the form of photographs, video dioramas, films, and installations &#8211; and for several years now, her work has been oriented towards experimental documentaries. In 2009, she directed Check Check Poto &#8211; produced by Les Laboratoires d&rsquo;Aubervilliers, which was presented and premiered for numerous festivals such as the Astra Film Festival, Sibiu (Romania), and the FID Marseille. Since 2010, Julia has been working on a project in a suburb of Cairo (Egypt), for which she has received the support of l&rsquo;Espace Khiasma, and Les Lilas (Paris) for artistic accompaniment and production. In January 2012, Julia completed her first residency in Toronto &#8211; organized and supported by Elegoa Cultural Productions and the Consulat g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de France \u00e0 Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>This workshop guided by Julia Varga is organized through the program OFF the Edge: Burbs to Banlieue, in partnership with Elegoa Cultural Productions and the Kodak Lectures (Ryerson School of Image Arts) where Julia Varga will present on March 21st at 7pm. OFF the Edge: Burbs to Banlieue is presented by Paris-Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>Paris-Toronto, a program coordinated by the Consulat g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de France \u00e0 Toronto, receives the support of l&rsquo;Institut Fran\u00e7ais, and includes events organized by the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), Art Metropole, Canadian Art Foundation, Scotiabank Nuit Blanche, the Justina M.
