Chute d\u2019haut (Water\/Above fall) is an animation showcasing elements from nature like water and wind to show human emotions and talk about the cycle of life. In this video, we follow the journey of three water drop falling from a cloud and the different adventures and obstacles they encounter.<\/p>\n

Le Labo\u2019s Young Artists Collective is a group of four francophone and francophile youth joined by a curiosity for media arts and the desire to develop their own creativity. Coming from different schools, backgrounds and ages, each one brought their own talent. During the creative process, they developed their story while learning the techniques with specific workshops provided by Le Labo.<\/p>\n

About the artists:<\/p>\n

Rebecca Bordeiasu
\nRebecca is a freshman at Gordon Graydon Memorial S.S. She has a great interest in design and animation. Her favorite style of art is sculpture and drawing. At a very young age, she discovered a love for film making. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in Le Labo\u2019s Youth Collective and to meet different types of artists and filmmakers. She also got a chance to see how much work goes into a media arts project. Le Labo has also introduced her to new people and helped her discover a new found love for stop-motion film making.<\/p>\n

\u00c9ric Siegfriedt
\n\u00c9ric is a bilingual Ontarian student, visual artist, competitive swimmer and future architect. Le Labo interested him because he wanted to discover new grounds in media arts. Before participating in this project, he never imagined he would ever create his very own stop-motion animation.<\/p>\n

S\u00e9bastien Duff-Mailloux
\nSebastien is a 16 years old a student at \u00c9cole secondaire Toronto Ouest. . He is a huge fan of music and plays bass guitar. He decided to participate in the Labo\u2019s project to get into media arts, and in particular to learn stop-motion and also film production.<\/p>\n

Andrei Grovu
\nAndrei is a student at St. Jerome interested in computer generated art and the French language. He was looking for an opportunity to practice his French and learn more about media arts. While attending one of his French classes at the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise he heard about Le Labo\u2019s project and decided to enroll. Le Labo allowed him to meet many amazing artists and film makers that he could have never imagined meeting. He learned many new things and is very thankful to have been able to participate in this program.<\/p>\n

About the instructors:<\/p>\n

Alexandre Loukos
\nAlexandre Loukos studied cinema and TV in Paris, France, and made his first professional steps in Greece. He is now a bilingual Canadian citizen based in Toronto. Recently, he has mostly worked as a freelance editor for the Groupe M\u00e9dia TFO, Ontario francophone television and web broadcast.
\nHe also edited docs and corporate videos for the National Film Board of Canada, ARTV, Sun Life Financial, Costa Leclerc Design, and National Public Relations among others. Loukos is a founding member of LE LABO, Toronto\u2019s Francophone Media Arts Center, member of FRIC, Front des r\u00e9alisateurs ind\u00e9pendants du Canada (French language independent directors of Canada) and a member of DOC, Documentary Organization of Canada.<\/p>\n

Madi Piller
\nIn 1998 Madi Piller moved to Toronto and started working closely with the independent film community doing experimental short films, programming and mentoring.
\nHer films have been shown at many Festivals and Art venues across Canada and abroad. Her work has been produced with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council and the National Film Board of Canada.
\nFor several years she has been active in programming and creating special commissioned projects in animation.
\nMadi\u2019s admiration for the art of animation has motivated her to serve as volunteer President of the Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS) Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

Paul Walty
\nAs visual artists go, Walty is more often a morning person than somebody with a craving for all-nighters. Such curious behaviour is no doubt due to a childhood minus spinouts, detours and cul-de-sacs; near-sighted by necessity, his eagle eyes leave nothing to chance or destiny. Before setting out each day, he slips a 4×6 sketch book into a pocket, and a small point-and-shoot digital camera in another. The large caliber 4B or 6B pencil and the chisel-tipped, permanent, water-based marker slide into the cell phone holster – a fast draw can still make the difference! In spite of the foregoing, he adores the slideshows of your vacations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
