LABO invites you to attend a presentation of Scenecaster, a brand new three-dimensional creation service on the Web, accessible to all.<\/p>\n

Until recently, creating three-dimensional scenes was reserved for specialists in 3D graphics, typically focusing on special effects in movies and television or creating videogames. Scenecaster’s goal is to make the creation of three-dimensional spaces more accessible and to do for 3D that YouTube did for video.<\/p>\n

This novel solution is a natural extension of the traditional 2D web to 3D that allows users to develop interactive non linear stories through the use of 3D hyperlinked spaces.<\/p>\n

Scenecaster addresses the needs of artists, designers and web professionals, as well as neophytes seeking to explore a new visual creation medium. The software allows a user to choose between creating a scene from pre-existing templates (room, office, pub, city, forest…) or to start from a completely blank space.<\/p>\n

Scenecaster is available as a free service both on Facebook and on scenecaster.com. It currently has over one million members worldwide.<\/p>\n

Alain Chesnais, Scenecaster CTO, will present this service in its current form, with emphasis on its applications in the field of artistic creation and will also show previews of upcoming developments. Scenecaster presents an opportunity for artists to create in 3D on the web in a medium that has, up till now, rarely been explored.<\/p>\n

Alain Chesnais:
\na computer scientist primarily focused on 3D and web development, he is one of the designers of the MAYA 3D packagel, for which his team was awarded an Oscar in technical excellence in 2002.<\/p>\n

He has worked with leading film production companies for 3D, Disney, ILM, Digital Domain, etc.<\/p>\n

He was president of the association SIGGRAPH 2002 to 2005 and is currently vice-president of ACM.<\/p>\n

With Scenecaster, Alain Chesnais is trying to democratize the creation of three-dimensional spaces on the web and make it accessible to non-specialists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
