Each different unit will perform their improvised music collaboration in front of an audience at Le Laboratoire d\u2019art. The artists from Toronto will be physically present at the LABO, and the Osaka artists will appear to the public as a video projection, shot and transmitted live from Japan. The artists from Toronto will be sending their image live to Osaka and their video will be projected on the back wall of the curator\u2019s residence.<\/p>\n<p>The web program allows these groups to collaborate live musically despite the great distances that separate them. The public will discover a small sample of the sound art made in Japan and have the opportunity to experience the collaborative process and all of its surprises.<\/p>\n<p>Le LABO is a francophone integrated arts lab specializing in production, training and outreach and represents video, film, visual, performance and sound artists. Its mandate is to encourage experimentation and collaboration between multidisciplinary artists. Le LABO is currently the only francophone production center in Ontario for artists working in new media and technology.<\/p>\n<p>Le LABO wishes to thank the following organisations for their support and generosity: the Ontario Arts Council, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Heritage Canada.<\/p>\n<p>TORONTO ARTISTS<\/p>\n<p>dreamSTATE<br \/>\nScott M2 \u2014 synthesisers<br \/>\nJamie Todd \u2014 synthesisers<br \/>\nDominique Banoun \u2014 laptop computer<br \/>\nElectronic soundshapers Scott M2 and Jamie Todd have been<br \/>\nweaving ambient soundscapes together as dreamSTATE since<br \/>\n1995. They\u2019re known for their soundscape albums, perfor &#8211;<br \/>\nmances and installations and as the curators of THE AMBiENT<br \/>\nPiNG live music series. At Sound Factory, dreamSTATE will be<br \/>\naccompanied by laptop improviser Dominique Banoun.<br \/>\nwww.dreamSTATE.to<br \/>\nwww.THEAMBiENTPiNG.com<br \/>\nwww.moveprod.com<\/p>\n<p>PHOLDE<br \/>\nAlan Bloor \u2014 Welded Sculpture<br \/>\nImprovised metal soundscapes: \u201cBy striking and bowing his<br \/>\nmetallic inventions, Pholde creates gargantuan dins that tumble<br \/>\nout of the speakers with galvanic force\u201d. Darren Bergstein,<br \/>\ne\/i Magazine<br \/>\nwww.theambientping.com\/pholde\/home.html<\/p>\n<p>ERIC ST-LAURENT \u2013 electric guitar<br \/>\nEric St-Laurent first got involved in music as a guitarist in<br \/>\nvarious rock bands. He has won interpretation and composition<br \/>\nawards at Jazz Festivals in Montr\u00e9al and Vienne (France). He<br \/>\nhas written and produced numerous music albums and toured<br \/>\nextensively throughout Europe, with Till Br\u00f6nner and Rebekka<br \/>\nBakken to name a few. He is in the process of making his next<br \/>\nalbum with his new afro-cuban jazz quatuor.<\/p>\n<p>ODRADEK<br \/>\nJames Bailey \u2014 Found Objects, Electronics<br \/>\nAndy Yue \u2014 Keyboards<br \/>\nMichelangelo Laffaldano \u2014 Guitar, Clarinet, Homemade<br \/>\nInstruments<br \/>\nOdradek is a long-running trio of friends who delight in<br \/>\nimprovising on any sound source they can lay their hands on,<br \/>\nfrom the concert hall to the curb.<\/p>\n<p>OSAKA ARTISTS<\/p>\n<p>KUROTCH<br \/>\nAtsushi Kurokawa \u2014 Voist<br \/>\nKurotch started to create his own electronic instruments in<br \/>\n1999, and since then, he had been performing at various events<br \/>\nin the Osaka\/Kyoto area. The instruments he has been working<br \/>\non in the recent years are called Voist. They consist of many<br \/>\nhomemade spherical synthesizers connected together by<br \/>\ncables.<\/p>\n<p>CLONELINESS<br \/>\nCharles-\u00c9ric Billard \u2014 Slitars<br \/>\nLiving in Japan since 2001, Charles-\u00c9ric Billard has been<br \/>\npursuing his creative work in visual and video and sound art, as<br \/>\nwell as organizing multi-disciplinary art events. His video<br \/>\ncollaboration with contemporary dancer Yangjah was shown<br \/>\nat the Osaka Art Kaleidoscope Exhibition in April 2007.
