Karen Vanderborght is a creative technologist, experience designer, educator, and dada digital artist (alias imagefatale), with three decades of innovation in the media industry. She studied at LUCA School of Arts in Brussels and inherited her touch of surrealist imagination from her native country. With three decades of innovation in the media industry, she repurposes emerging technologies, subverting their hype cycles to better debug our digital humanity. Her work explores “phygital” play, co-creation with artificial intelligence, and speculative cyberfeminist futures, captivating audiences across Canada, South Korea, Belgium, Turkey, and the United States.
In 2020, she co-founded KrakXR, a boutique XR studio, as well as RAARAlab, an interdisciplinary artistic collective. Her hybrid practice, which blends art, research, and technology, has been recognized through grants, residencies, and awards. She is represented by Argos – Center for Audiovisual Arts (Brussels, BE) and Floating Point Gallery (Toronto, CA).
