Sébastien Higgins

First loves, first disillusionments, first steps toward self-affirmation: Ottawa filmmaker Sébastien Higgins revisits his own adolescence in his first feature film Ta planète natale, an entirely Franco-Ontarian production.

Working in both fiction and documentary since 2015, Sébastien Higgins directed his first documentary short film in 2017, titled The Guests, a film about the foreign worker industry in Taiwan. In 2020, he directed his first feature film, Ta planète natale, a work exploring youth and the transition to adulthood in a small Franco-Ontarian community. Most recently, he directed three episodes of the documentary series 180 for the French-language broadcaster TVA.
