Toronto screening of Chasseuse de son centred on a work blending landscapes, songs, and stories in Nunavut.
Conceived as an immersive experience, the film interweaves performance with images shot on the land. Drawing on concert footage and on-location sequences, Chasseuse de son weaves a narrative in which landscapes, voices, and presences resonate with one another.
Songs and sonic textures move through states of pain, anger, and power, carried by one of the most striking performers of her generation. The film offers a sensitive, embodied approach to the land, where listening becomes a space for transformation.
Directed by Chelsea McMullan and Tanya Tagaq, Chasseuse de son invites audiences into an experience that is both intimate and collective, at the intersection of performance, cinema, and sonic exploration.
