Steph Cloutier

Steph Cloutier is a multidisciplinary Francophone artist based in Toronto who works with textiles, paper, video, and installation. Her practice explores themes of memory, repair, the absurd, and history.

She is currently exploring her fascination with visual space in urban environments, nature, and our existence within these spaces. In her current works, she creates drawings that evoke landscapes that are both ethereal and familiar. A former professional photographer, she experiments with various photographic techniques to play with perspective and repetition, and the resulting images are reworked into needle drawings. Passionate about the creative process, she combines her interest in hand sewing, natural dyes, and papermaking to deepen her understanding of her materials.

She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with distinction in Sculpture and Installation from OCAD University and has exhibited at Harbourfront Centre, the Gladstone House, and Craft Ontario. She has completed artist residencies in Toronto, Canada, and Naples, Italy. Some of her works are held in private collections in Canada and the United States.
