3D Printing Workshop: SketchUp — Introduction to 3D Modeling

An introduction to modeling and 3D printing with SketchUp, conceived as an artistic prototyping tool, to add substance to grant applications or formal research.

With artist-instructor Alexane Couture, this SketchUp 3D workshop offers a progressive introduction to modeling and 3D printing, starting with the basics of SketchUp Web. Participants will discover the software’s essential features in order to explore 3D modeling as an artistic prototyping tool, useful both for formal research and for strengthening grant applications or projects in development.

Building on these concepts, each participant will be invited to imagine and design a three-dimensional object, from virtual drawing to concrete production through 3D printing. In this SketchUp 3D printing workshop, the emphasis is on moving from the virtual to the tangible, where the idea takes shape and becomes an object.
