Emergence
“Emergence” by Nadine Valcin was selected by Le Labo’s artistic committee for Nuit Blanche. This silent two-channel video installation addresses the practice of blackface in the representation of the Black community. Through close-ups and glass walls, the work reaffirms the beauty and celebrates the diversity of Black faces, while evoking the stereotypes that still imprison racialized bodies. The project aligns with the Nuit Blanche theme “The Space Between Us.”
