Le Labo celebrates National Canadian Film Day with Reel Canada by honoring filmmaker Marie-Claire Marcotte and her feature film released in 2024.

Rêver en néon tells the tragi-comic story of Billie (8 years old), who relies on her vivid imagination to unravel the secrets surrounding her mother’s true identity. Guided by neon lights that illuminate her path, she dives into an intimate investigation that disrupts her daily life and leads her to question her family.

Directed by Marie-Claire Marcotte, this 83-minute drama has been acclaimed at numerous festivals, notably receiving awards at the Berlin Women Cinema Festival and the Montreal Women Film Festival, as well as several international nominations.

As it does every year, Le Labo offers programming that reflects its values and the artists it supports. This screening of the film Rêver en néon is a unique opportunity to discover a sensitive and significant work of contemporary Canadian cinema.
