Video Mapping Workshop with Maxime Touroute: when technology becomes a vector for human connection
Le Labo invites Francophone artists from Toronto to delve into the world of video mapping during a workshop led by Maxime Touroute, an internationally recognized artist and creative developer.
Designed as an accessible introduction to video mapping, this workshop explores a technique that involves projecting digital images onto real surfaces, thus transforming any space into a field for visual experimentation.
Participants will learn to combine technical tools and an artistic approach to create their own mini-projection project, which they will share with the group at the end of the session. The objective is to demystify digital technologies while opening the door to new forms of visual creation.
Through this workshop, Le Labo continues its mission to make Francophone media arts accessible and inspiring, while fostering encounters between artists, technologies, and audiences.
A practice at the intersection of art and code
Behind each of his works, a series of internally developed creative software is deployed, designed to make digital creation more accessible. These tools are now used in museums, festivals, and cultural institutions worldwide for immersion, mediation, and artistic experimentation projects.
Through this video mapping workshop with Maxime Touroute, he shares his tools, his approach, and a vision of digital technology as a space for collaboration, collective creation, and transformation.
