The Secrets of a Swing

The Secrets of a Swing

Nathalie Quagliotto presents “The Secrets of a Swing,” a new video exploring deviant activities and behaviors in public playgrounds during the night. Focusing on the swing, the artist uses video to capture the illegality surrounding this otherwise innocent childhood object. The playground reveals itself as a site of secrecy, maturity, and hidden intrusion in the darkness. Her sculptural practice takes prefabricated childhood objects associated with obsolescence and modifies them to shift their social meaning. This project emerged from a mentorship with Pascal Paquette.
