Joseph Muscat
Graduated in arts and visual arts from York University, Toronto; University of Aix-Marseills, France; and College des Beaux-arts de l’Ontario. Apprenticed in Lithography at the Atelier des réalisations graphiques de Québe and at Les Tailleurs d’images, by Carmelle Martineau in Quebec.
Painter, photographer,and mixed-technical artist since 1981. Held exhibitions in Canada, Europe, the United States, Colombia, and Seoul, South Korea in the public and commercial field.
Grant recipient of the Canada and Ontario Art Councils.
Represented by David Kaye Gallery in Toronto; Danielle Wohl Fine Arts in Orinda, California; Guildworks in Bloomfield, Ontario; and Gallery MIZ in Seoul, South Korea.
His works are collected by the commercial, private, and public sectors, and are published in art books, magazine covers, school textbooks, and literary books.
Ex-president of Propeller Gallery, Toronto, between 2010 and 2015, and served as board member of TOAE (Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition) between 2006 and 2013. Founding member of the Labo and B.R.A.V.O (Bureau des regroupements des artistes visuels de Toronto). Active member of OSA (Ontario Society of Artists)
Professor of visual arts at the Toronto School Board between 1975 and 2011 – formerly a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Toronto.
He recently published his own art biography, a 287-page hardcover book entitled: Joseph Muscat – An Art-Infused Life.
