Re-evolution

Zhenchen Liu is interested in how the contemporary city imposes non-sense and rupture on its inhabitant’s imagination through wild and brutal modernization that eradicates all traces of history. For this exhibit, Zhenchen Liu presents a new photo series «Dinosaurs» along with a video series including his latest piece about the transformation of Cuba by way of modernization.

Faire une Scène est une formation professionnelle sur la réalisation de films de fiction offerte aux réalisateurs franco-canadiens. Cette formation intensive résulte d’une collaboration entre le Front des réalisateurs indépendants du Canada (FRIC) et Le Laboratoire d’art de Toronto (Le Labo).

21st Century Fox Sisters

The new installation of Jenn E. Norton will be exhibited at Le Laboratoire d’Art upon the completion of her month long residency. With « 21st Century Fox Sisters », Norton has built an interactive space where the Fox sisters, famous mediums of the 19th Century, are re-imagined as producers and directors of a multi-media spectacle. By imposing the past upon the present with women who lend their bodies to spirits to hold a captive audience.

Formed in 1984, The Toronto Animated Image Society is a not-for-profit, artist-run organization. Over the past 25 years, TAIS has encouraged the exchange of information, facilities, ideas and aesthetics within Toronto’s animation community through events, screenings, workshops, and art exhibitions. The TAIS membership is made up of independent and professional animators, educators, enthusiasts and artists.
