Le Labo offers a video performance workshop taught by Belinda Campbell, a multidisciplinary artist who skillfully expresses herself through video, performance, drawing, sound making or even poetry. She studied at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) where she graduated with a Master Degree in Visual and Media Arts, in 2006.
Since then, Belinda’s work has been exhibited in several Art Centers in Quebec such as Dare-Dare and Optica in Montreal or Axeneo7 Gallery in Gatineau.
The political power of documentary film
Le Labo are pleased to invite film director Julia Varga – to conduct a lecture on the political power of documentary film on Sunday March 24th from 2:00-6:00 pm.
This workshop will examine the difference between ‘pedagogical’ documentaries which expose a specific thematic aimed at fixing the spectator at a determined position, and those of ‘open’ documentaries which call each viewer to form their own personal perspective. The voice over technique – a key tool of subjectivity in documentary film, will be of particular focus during this workshop.

Workshop: Adobe Illustrator Introduction
$20 for members
$50 for non-members
Le Labo is offering a workshop on the vector graphic editor: Adobe Illustrator. Part of Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator is often the go-to graphic editor software for graphic designers everywhere and an important tool to have for anyone interested in this art form.
This workshop will focus on the design of vectorial images at a beginner and intermediate level. Very different from image editing softwares, Illustrator offers a vast array of graphic options to create logos, thumbnails, icons, technical drawings and complex illustrations.

DISCUSSION WITH THE ONTARIO ARTS COUNCIL
DON’T MISS IT :
Le Labo invites you to come and meet representatives of various programs offered by the Ontario Arts Council and to discuss with them the different funding options available through the organisation.
Barbara Gilbert, Claudette Jaiko, Bushra Junaid and Luciana Pierre will be in our studio space on Thursday January 10th to answer your questions.
An important meeting reserved for our members, curious to learn more about the grant application process and about an organisation which has made it its mission to develop and promote the Arts in Ontario.
